...but I love nursing. I may've already complained about this, but given that Rohan will be 8 months old on Friday (wow! 8 months? Already? Wow! ...now back to main point), I figured I'd mention again how much I loathe the mechanical sucker.
But I do love breastfeeding. Did I say that already? I love nursing! I do!
I was only able to breastfeed Deven for ~ 9 months, then my loathing of the pump and a tough time @ work got the best of me with him. He started wanting more milk, more quickly, than I could accommodate and I just gave up. He was fine. But I missed the closeness.
So, here I sit with Rohan almost 8 months old, eating anything we put in front of him, edible or otherwise - that includes dried flowers (oops), pieces of random candy wrappers (oops - Deven!), and anything else he can now crawl to faster than we can get it away from him. And, as one consequence, he's taking less milk. He's healthy as far as we can tell - and that's wonderful.
I pump once per day @ the office...I should do it twice, but - as the post topic suggests - I hate it. And I'm lucky enough to have all the necessary "gear"
- two (2) pumps - one stays @ the office, one (secondhand used) @ home - and don't let anyone tell you a used pump isn't good enough b/c so long as the darned thing sucks, it's fine...
- Convenient hands-free "Easy Expression Hands-Free Breast Pumping Bra" (the ultra-sexy thing (NOT!) that makes all nursing moms cringe...but frankly, is completely useful)

(is this photo of the "bustier" ridiculous or what?!?
- 3 sets of "horns" (what we call breastshields) - so I can have 1 @ home, 1 dirty @ home, & 1 in the office
- TONS of small Medela bottles - about 50, I think. I bought a nursing wrap (which I never used) and the gal who sold that to me, gave me tons of these little bottles, which is great.
- Quite a few small sterile plastic baggies; just in case I run out of bottles.
Anyway, I really do want to nurse Rohan for at least 1 year (which all the docs say is the right amount of time); I just wish there were a way to do so without the evil pump.
In other news, we're excited to see Aunt Carolyn, who'll be coming into town to visit old friends this weekend. Deven and Daadi have never met her, so I hope he's willing to eat and nap before he meets her - I admit I want him to be the Charming Prince Deven when she meets him, not the Little Devil Deven.
Then next weekend, we're off to vacation with Aunt Heather, Uncle Tommy, & cousin Ante for a week @ their vacation home in Cedar Lake, Indiana. Wish us luck there, to be well-behaved guests for the week! :)
