Zzz...

This is what I'd like to be doing, but our dear baby boy Rohan has decided that nighttime is not only for sleep, but also for shrieks and howls...sometimes once an hour.

Rohan is, I've decided, the 5-month old cherubic equivalent of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde.

Daytimes: Sweet-as-pie; giggles and coos and eats his toes and rolls over; whines just a little bit when he's hungry or tired but generally eats, sleeps, & poops well - and giggles and smiles and gurgles charmingly in between.

Nights: Goes down easy with Daddy. Problem is, he doesn't STAY down! Every 1 - 2 hours, he awakens with a blood-curdling scream, and won't stop until we've picked him up. Just leave him there, you say? Well, we've tried the CIO [that's Cry It Out] method, and despite being a heartless boorish awful mother, I finally picked him up ...or, more properly, had Yogesh pick him up, just so we could sleep. This kid is LOUD! He used to sleep in our bed, but he started kicking me so much that we kicked him out of bed ~ 1 month ago.

I know it's a phase. I know "every kid is different" and we just have to deal with it. And, I know that we're incredibly lucky that this is what I have to complain about, and Rohan (and big brother Deven) and everyone else here are basically healthy. I know, I know, I know!

...but is it so wrong that I'm really looking forward to a 1-night business trip in 2 weeks, so I can go to bed early and get a full 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep?
