Like Mother, Like Son

When I was a little girl, I used to chase my sister around the center of our house, both of us giggling as she begged "Dadie, tase me!" (That was toddler-speak for "Katie, chase me!"). I would chase her slowly, while threatening in my best silly-scary voice "I'm gonna get you! I'm gonna get you!" We spent countless hours this way when Heather was about 1-2; and would routinely fall down in piles of laughter when I would catch her and tickle her until she screamed for mercy. Whatever the facts may have been at the time, it's a memory both of us remember fondly through the rose-colored lense of time.

What I thought was just a Sherwood-girl-in-the-70's thing has turned out to be genetic: tonight, I watched as Deven chased Rohan, repeating precisely the words I'd used with my sister over 30 years ago: "I'm gonna get you!" - and Rohan toddled-ran away with delight.

See for yourself: sometimes, when history repeats itself, it's a ton of fun. :)

The boys had a good night 2 nights ago, but were awake & hungry from 1:30-6am this morning (and thus Yogesh was too)...and are now enjoying a nice, long afternoon nap.
We hope the adage 'Good day sleep begets good nighttime sleep' holds true tonight!

Bye-bye Delhi

We left Delhi yesterday & had a good, if long, trip back.

Purvesh, a sleeping Rohan aka Hero or Napoleon Bonaparte (nicknames given pre-haircut-Daadaji now thinks he's more Hero), Pooja, Deven aka Rajkumar or Prince, Daadaji, Pramod, & Yogesh.

It was a lovely trip; and we were sad to leave. But back home now & w/apologies to Mr. Idea, I admit the thing I missed while there was our mattress!

Christmas Eve in Hong Kong airport

It's pretty quiet here; Rohan & I are enjoying (enduring?) a 3-hour layover before we board the flight for Delhi.

First flight was remarkably good; bassinet seat was very useful, another couple with a 14-month old was using the next bassinet & we shared toys, the attendants were kind, and a very sweet single man was right next to us. The only bad thing was Rohan doesn't sleep well - which means I haven't slept at all.

I haven't been here in 5 years, and it hasn't changed much. I like/miss the warm, moist air of southeast Asia. The smell in the air (which I think is just pollution, but I like it) reminds me of working here. Perhaps I'll work here (or at least in Asia) again.

Tonight I really wish we were all snowed-in in MD, wrapping gifts & preparing to sing Christmas carols with my family, but I'm also glad we're headed to see our Indian family - Daadaji deserves to see & enjoy the walking-cuteness that is Rohan, too. :)

Only 8 more hours until we are reunited with Daddy & the gang in Delhi. Yay! Zzz!
