The Very Cute Boys

A childhood classic is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carlisle (we have 2 copies, thanks to gifts, in case anyone's interested). Deven loves it & insists on it as a bedtime story most evenings- and can already recite almost every sentence by heart.

I walked into our room this morning, to find my 3 boys engrossed in the story somewhere between the 3 plums and the 5 oranges. They didn't even notice me until the flash went off.

In other news, Rohan now has his 2 top teeth, and we're expecting to see more soon. :)

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Uncle Rahul from Toronto, Auntie Kathleen from Seattle, Tante Inge & Uncle Cliff from Maryland, and Aunties Danielle & Christie from right here, all helped us celebrate Daddy's birthday on Thursday.

Tante Inge made 2 *yummy* German cakes, Auntie Christie brought bubbly, and there were flowers, Auntie Danielle brought balloons & flowers, Uncle Rahul brought gifts for the boys, and a good time was had by all!

I know you'd understand

To all Parents of kids over 3, and preschool teachers:
This morning, Deven insisted on wearing underpants instead of a pullup-diaper. I took him to school (using the jogging stroller) for the first time in a week b/c he's finally over the hand-foot-and-mouth disease he had. He didn't want to use the toilet right before we left.

When we got there, he was holding his crotch-area - a signal I've learned means he has to go su-suu (pee-pee). He will say "NO" if you ask him; but this time - I didn't have any meetings right then, so I stayed, held him, then gently told him I'd pull his pants down and he should sit on the potty. He likes privacy (who doesn't?); so I sat facing away...
And I was rewarded with a potty of su-suu, and a grinning toddler!

Yay!
We washed our hands and I thought my heart would explode with happiness & pride.

I saw one of his teachers en route to BART for work - and was so excited, I told her what happened.

It may not seem like much - we haven't had issues w/this per se, but still: Parents, I know you'd understand.

Mommy's worst nightmare

Is coming true.

Deven is able to climb - by himself - to the top of the 20' high jungle gym - and Rohan is walking by himself.

Thank goodness for health insurance with high flex-spending account limits.

First Tooth;& Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease

On the eve of Cousin Ante's first birthday, Rohan finally cut his first tooth! He's also very close to walking (standing & squatting unassisted, regularly).

Deven has finally started potty training in earnest. He likes underwear, and he likes sitting on the potty - though he still often has accidents...we are looking forward to the days of no poopy diapers.

Both boys have been sick lately, but it's with a (so far) mild case of Hand, Foot, & Mouth Disease - manifesting in small pimple-like blisters on the - what else - Hands, Feet, & Mouth of babes (and in our boys case, and their bottoms). Photo of Deven's hand shows a tiny blister right below his middle-finger knuckle.

It can make 'em fussy & not want to eat, so we've been plying Deven with things he will eat (ice cream, juice) and he's been happy.

Happy almost-Birthday, Ante!

Deven pushing Rohan

...lately it's been the other way around (Rohan pushing Deven) but enjoy this:

11 months

11 months ago, Rohan was 1 day old, and Deven was saying "1-2, 5-6, 9-10!"

Now, Deven speaks in full sentences (but less in Hindi), and Rohan's very close to walking.

Today for the first time, when it was time to go to sleep, I had to offer Rohan a bottle, because I wasn't able to feed him enough myself. Sure, others have offered him a bottle - he's been ~ 50-50 breastmilk-formula since ~ 5 months old; but *I* haven't had to offer him one yet.

But he drank 4 ounces and has only woken up once since going down - so I guess it works.

And he's growing up. And he's cute. And cuddly. And all's well (excepting Yogesh's knee but that's improving).

And that's good.

Mommy's little cherubs

...Right now, anyway.

Deven has been more difficult lately, and Rohan just wants Mommy & voices his displeasure if he's not touching me.
With Daddy down-for-the-count recovering from knee surgery (repairing a torn miniscus; went well but he's understandably hobbling & in pain), life has been more challenging!

We have lots of cute photos & videos to post; but little time to actually *do* the posting. So for now, enjoy the quiet photo of a quiet Sunday in Noe Valley quietly, and know that they'll be up to break the quiet again, soon.

Happy Halloween with Naani, part 3

More photos from a fun weekend!
:)

Happy Halloween with Naani, part 2

Some more photos, from the pumpkin patch and swings.

We also saw Aunt Danielle, Uncle Peter, and Tante Annette & Tante Heike (sp?) who were visiting from Germany and had fun @ Ocean Beach on Saturday, too.

Happy Halloween with Naani

Naani joined us this weekend, and what fun we've had!
Halloween parties at school & work on Friday (after Naani visited some real estate in nearby Sonoma); fun at the Farmer's Market & park on Saturday before trick-or-treating; and another park, shopping, and formal photos on a lovely sunny Sunday today.
Nicer photos to follow; but we think Naani has had fun so far - Deven's LOVED having her here!
